Well, 2009 got of to a fantastic start with the announcement of The Dead tour grabbing headlines and imaginations across the land. There was some speculation about The Dead tour in the weeks and months leading up to the official tour announcement, but with the fact that The Dead Tour 2009 has been definitively announced, Deadheads of all generations are once again rejoicing. Of course it won’t be the same without Jerry, but The Dead tour is going to be a blast for whoever gets their hands on The Dead tickets. “I get goose bumps just thinking about the possibilities.” says Drummer Bill Kreutzmann. Deadheads all over are also goosebumps just thinking about what these cats have planned. The Dead tickets are going to be some of the craziest ever, so try to land some ASAP.
The Dead will be touring for the first time in five years, not counting a few political shows. While the Dead tour had been rumored about for months in Deadhead circles around the world, The Dead tour was officially announced on Jan.1, New Years Day. The bands says the seeds of The Dead tour were planted when The Dead members Hart, Lesh and Weir played a “Dead Heads For Obama” show in February at the Warfield thater in their native San Francisco. You might recall that Weir, Kreutzmann and Hart also performed at a post-inauguration for Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi last year.
So far The Dead has announced twenty shows around the country taking place in April and May of 2009. We haven’t seen anticipation like there is for The Dead tour in we can’t remember how long. These guys can definitely jam, and their electric skills will be on full display during the 2009 Dead tour. This tour could be an expericne of a lifetime, so don’t pass up a chance to see the legends for your first time, or all over again.
All shows will be called “An evening with the Dead.” The Dear tour 2009 gets started in Greensboro, North Carolina. They play 15 additional East Coast shows, including a The Dead New York concert, The Dead Worcester Mass show and two The Dead Philadelphia tour. Other stops include The Dead in Chicago, and Denver. The Dead 2009 tour culminates in the bands final show in San Francisco.
